The armadillo is a mammal, native to North and South America. They are usually 36cm to 75 cm in length, and weigh 4kg to 30kg. They are pink, gray, and black, and have a hard outer shell. Armadillos normally live for 4 to 12 years, and are considered endangered. They live in forests and grasslands, and live by them selves, except when with a mate. They are omnivores, and their main food sources are insects, ants, and termites. It's predators are bears, wolfs, and coyotes, and their defense against them is to roll into a ball with their armored plating.
