The guanacaste, also known as caro caro and the elephant-ear tree, is a species of flowering tree. It is the national tree of Costa Rica although it is not endemic to Costa Rica. The flowers on the tree grow in groups of about 50 and show up all around the tree. The tree grows 60 to 100 ft with a short trunk, 3 to 6 ft or more in diameter.
