The Kapok is a tree which is not endemic to Costa Rica, but is found in Central America, South America, and parts of Africa. Its typical size is 120’x80’ and is a very fast growing tree. Its flowers bud in February and early March, and its leaves are long, green, and grow in groups of around 7. An interesting thing about the Kapok is that some of them grow with spikes while others do not.
